Your Leadership Compass
The 5 Leadership Principles & the IPO Chain
As a Team Lead at Millennium, your value comes from your ability to influence people, teams and processes towards a shared goal.
This foundation rests on 5 Principles — each one is a daily choice, not a one-time decision.
1. Communicate expectations.
2. Cultivate self-respect.
3. Work together for results.
4. Take action when challenges arise.
5. Always maintain credibility.
Expectation Management — What Do You Expect of Yourself?
As a team lead you face expectations from different people — yourself, inside and outside your team.
Reflect monthly: "Am I on track?"
Identify your top 5 LIFE priorities — what matters most in my life?
Define your top 5 WORK priorities — what's most important in my work?
Set your personal standard: "I am a good leader when…" — believe in your abilities beyond your job title.
Establish non-negotiables — know what you cannot accept long-term and protect those boundaries.
Discuss your priorities with trusted people — their feedback sharpens your perspective.
Your values are your leadership compass — clarity about them keeps you resilient, authentic and confident.

Who Expects What?
Supervisors — give tasks and set goals.
Team members — need guidance and support.
Customers — expect top-quality products and service.
Other leads — count on teamwork and coordination.
External contacts — may rely on your input or cooperation.
Why aligning matters: too many or conflicting expectations slow you down and cause stress — staying balanced keeps you productive and confident.
Tips: Spot issues · Clarify needs · Talk it out · Adjust if needed · Address conflicts · Set boundaries.
Know what they need — not to follow blindly, but to make smart decisions.
→ Use Worksheet 2 below to prepare real expectation conversations.
